Our classes and waiting list are currently full.

Newpark Special Needs Swim Academy runs throughout the school term. Classes offer 1:1 or small groups so they can cater to the individual needs of the swimmer. We currently have 3 groups on a Friday afternoon and a lengths class on Saturday evening. Children are taught a range of skills include confidence in the water, water safety, breath control and stroke technique.

The pool area has a high ceiling with good natural light from skylights and ambient noise is limited as a result. And there is good graduation from the shallow water to the deep end that suits all levels from beginner to the more advanced.

The classes are for all children with special needs and physical disabilities and there is a pool hoist available for all swim sessions.

There is also a designated unisex disabled changing room which includes an overhead tracking hoist, height adjustable shower tray and changing bed, handle rails next to the toilet, a specific wheelchair for use in the shower and an emergency alarm. Key is available from reception.

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome and are free to go with their owner throughout the whole centre. Water bowls are available from reception as the temperature in the spectator area of the pool can get quite warm for the dog.
