Sauna and Steam Room

The main differences between saunas and steam rooms are temperature and humidity. Saunas are dry heat. Our sauna is kept at approximately 86 degrees Celcius, with a humidity level of around 10%. On the other hand, the temperature in a steam room is generally around 45 degrees Celcius, with almost 100% humidity. Dry saunas stimulate sweating, while the steam room reduces the ability to sweat.

Spending time in a sauna is thought to improve your cardiovascular health, boost your immune system, help control blood pressure, aid in your body’s relaxation process, and provide opportunities for socialization. Steam rooms are thought to have similar benefits, although less research has been carried out here.

Is there anyone who should avoid both?

If you have a history of fainting or low blood pressure, take extra precautions in the health suite area. It is also best to steer clear if you have suffered from a heart attack or stroke within the last 3 months. If you have a valvular disease (such as aortic stenosis) where dramatic changes in heart rate and blood pressure may be dangerous, it is also best to avoid this area.
